This Privacy Policy governs the collection and processing of personal information by Accomm4Students, a platform operated by Lever and Hart Strategic Advisory (Pty) Ltd (“the Company”, “we”, “us” or “our”), in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act.
1. Responsible Party
The Company acts as the “responsible party” as contemplated in POPIA in respect of all personal information processed through the Accomm4Students platform.
2. Collection of Personal Information
We collect and process personal information that is voluntarily provided by users when submitting enquiries, completing contact forms, or otherwise interacting with the platform. Such information may include, but is not limited to, names, contact details, and any information relating to accommodation requirements or preferences.
In addition, certain technical information may be collected automatically, including IP addresses, browser types, and usage data, for the purpose of maintaining and improving the functionality and security of the platform.
3. Purpose of Processing
Personal information is processed for purposes that are lawful and directly related to the operation of the platform. These purposes include facilitating introductions between prospective tenants and accommodation providers, responding to enquiries, administering the website, improving user experience, and conducting marketing and advertising activities.
4. Disclosure of Personal Information
By submitting an enquiry or otherwise providing personal information, users expressly consent to the disclosure of such information to relevant accommodation providers, landlords, or property managers for the purpose of responding to such enquiry.
We may further disclose personal information to third-party service providers who assist in operating the platform, including hosting providers, analytics services, and email service providers, provided that such parties are bound by appropriate confidentiality and data protection obligations.
The Company does not sell personal information to third parties.
5. Lawful Basis for Processing
Processing of personal information is undertaken with the consent of the data subject, or where processing is necessary for the proper performance of a public law duty by the Company, or for pursuing the legitimate interests of the Company in operating and improving the platform.
6. Data Security
The Company implements appropriate, reasonable technical and organisational measures to prevent loss of, damage to, or unauthorised access to personal information, in accordance with applicable data protection laws.
7. Retention of Personal Information
Personal information is retained only for as long as is necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected, or as required or permitted by law.

Data subjects have the right to request access to their personal information, to request correction or deletion of such information, and to object to the processing of their personal information, subject to applicable legal limitations.

Where personal information is transferred outside of South Africa, such transfer will be undertaken in accordance with the requirements of POPIA and only where adequate safeguards are in place.
